When should I use an immigration test?

Immigration DNA testing is a paternity, maternity or kinship test that is conducted at the request of the Ministry of Justice for UK immigration testing.

When you need to legally authenticate your family to aid them in obtaining a visa and eventually citizenship. The results will be submitted to the immigration authorities. It is very important that you choose a laboratory, such as EDC, that is accredited by the Ministry of Justice for UK immigration testing. All parts of the immigration testing process, including scheduling the appointment, should be managed by  an ISO-certified laboratory according to the ISO/IEC 17025 standards and not a third party.

EDC is an accredited DNA testing laboratory. Our results are accepted for immigration testing purposes.

Immigration application process explained

Process for Visa Applications and Appeals:

Following is a brief overview of the immigration DNA testing process at Express Diagnostic Center for NON- passport applications.

  1. An immigration solicitor or private client provides an instruction to Express Diagnostic Center via the online form on this page, email, fax, letter or phone call. The instruction should state the type of relationship to be established; the full names, dates of birth, and contact information of all parties involved in the test; and any relevant hearing date information. Contact details for the general practitioner (GP) should also be given unless the clients wish to use one of Express Diagnostic Center’s collection sites or our mobile collection service.
  2. When we have all this information, we provide you with a clear breakdown of all the costs involved in your testing.
  3. Express Diagnostic Center coordinates sample collection appointments and dispatches kits to the clients’ GPs or to our own collection sites. For family members who are overseas, we have a global network of experienced sample collectors to assist with the DNA sample collections.
  4. Once the samples are sent to our laboratory, we perform the necessary testing.
  5. When the testing is complete, we send the solicitor or client the DNA test results and any required supporting documentation

Process for Passport Applications:

  4. When the testing is complete, we will send the Passport Office and the client the DNA test results and any required supporting documentation.
